Hello, my name is Sacia Quattlebaum. I first began working at the Caring Center of Wichita in 2014. I served as our Office Manager for over three years. Prior to that I taught Business Education in Wichita Public Schools for 13 years. My years as a teacher and experience working with the counselors at the Caring Center, influenced me to earn my master’s in addiction counseling from Washburn University.

I worked for the Substance Abuse Center of Kansas for the past few years before returning to the Caring Center. There I primarily administered court-ordered evaluations and assessments for patients from all walks of life.  I determined the proper level of treatment needed for each person and helped with any referral services needed.  I transitioned from this to providing regular groups sessions which I enjoyed doing. Because of the Pandemic onset in 2020, I decided to take some time away from work to be with my family.

In October of 2020, the City of Wichita awarded the contract to administer the Wichita Intervention Program to The Caring Center of Wichita. In Kansas if you plead guilty or are found guilty of driving under the influence, you will receive jail time. This two-day supervised program in a local hotel provides an alternative to jail. Certainly this experience is much more therapeutic and beneficial than spending time in jail.

With my background in education, I was a natural to be selected as the instructor for the program.  Drug and alcohol education is the main focus of the first day for the DUI participants. I teach them to better understand addiction as a brain disease. The second day I present the tools to help them break out of the conflict cycle. This cycle is full of faulty beliefs systems and “thinking errors” that contributed to their predicaments in life. Even though I have a “captured audience,” this whole experience has been extremely rewarding for me. And I believe for them as well.

Prioritize your road to recovery. Give us a call at 316-295-4800 to schedule your next appointment with any of our counselors.

Take care,

~ Sacia
